All About The Telarie

The Telarie is a magical haven for sewers and crafters alike. Originally founded with a laptop and a bedroom dedicated to fabric storage, The Telarie has grown to be a much loved Australia’s boutique fabric.

The name “The Telarie” comes from Tela - meaning Textiles - combined with the whimsical and youthful suffix of “rie”. We envisaged a magical place that could have existed in the worlds of some of our most famous childhood fantasy stories, where everything and anything you could need is at your fingertips, and surrounded by the comfort and support of your chosen family. We’re still pinching ourselves that this is our real life! We’re 1000000% committed to bringing you high-quality, every day fabrics, threads, tools and whatever else you may need for your creative endeavours, and we will always encourage and support sustainable options in whatever way is practical for you and our brand. Stop by for a cuppa anytime, we’re always happy to see you or drop us a line to have a yarn.

The new generation of Australian makers who recognise that handmade, slow fashion is the most conscious way to have textile-based goods in our homes that are ethically manufactured, and are tailored to our individual wants and needs, and provide a creative, skilled outlet for makers.

The beautiful community of like-minded makers and our team of wonderful strike sewers have helped The Telarie to grow to better support the needs of our customers.

Our rigorous testing has meant we can offer a wide selection of top-quality; every day fabric bases that withstand several years (and several wearers) of use - in line with our journey to support ethical and sustainable living.

Our Philosophy

The textiles industry has a reputation that we want to turn on its head. We have a sustainability charter by which we measure all of our decisions, including ensuring ethical agreements with our manufacturers and artists. We aim to reduce waste, connect with like-minded creatives, and continue to bring diversity and unconditional acceptance to our community.

Meet The Team

Lindy

I'm Lindy, the new owner of The Telarie as of 2025, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be ta

king over this amazing business and continuing on Yondette’s dream!

Being a mum to two cheeky and energetic girls, Nina and Luna, keeps me on my toes!  But amidst the whirlwind of their playful chaos, I find so much joy in creating special things for them.  Sewing has become a way to express my love and add a little bit of magic to their childhood.

Creating has always been a part of my life.  Growing up, I was surrounded by it! My mum sewed constantly, and my big sister is a professional sewist, so it's definitely in my blood. I'm a big fan of machine embroidery and sewing, and I can't wait to bring that passion to The Telarie.

I'm passionate about providing high-quality products that help other small handmade businesses thrive.  I know how important reliable suppliers and beautiful materials are to growing a successful creative business, and I'm committed to supporting that growth for those of you who are small business owners yourselves.

We're based in NSW, and for now The Telarie will be online only.  Over the next few weeks, I'll be working closely with Yondette to get everything up and running again, starting with preorders reopening on the 15th of February.

I'm so looking forward to connecting with all of you and continuing the beautiful story of The Telarie.  Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have – I'm happy to answer them!

Yondette

I am a mother, wife and unapologetic fabric nerd born in Aotearoa (New Zealand), living on Wurundjeri Country (Melbourne, Australia). I have two little girls, and an English staffie who can jump like a kangaroo. I’ve spent my life pouring my heart and soul into creative endeavours of the crafting kind, including a small crochet basket business for a few years prior to tackling the big world of selling fabrics.

I spent many, many, days and nights dreaming about a life in fashion design, and as I grew up and learned more about this world I also became passionate about ethics and sustainability. I’m proud to be realising that dream as owner of a fabric & yarn store that supports the true magic of slow living and celebrates some of the incredible creativity found in homes all across the pacific.
